As a blogger, getting your content to the masses is your number one priority. But it goes way past finding the right social media avenues or using ads. It actually starts with creating the content itself. Let’s dive into how to promote your blog to maximize your reach as a blogger.
How Do I Promote My Blog?

It Starts With Intent – Always Put Your Audience First
Share for people, not for Google: The core of a people-first strategy revolves around creating and sharing content not just for the search engines, but for the audience looking to find your information. Authenticity speaks volumes. It’s more than SEO; it’s about delivering value to your readers.
Prioritize value: By prioritizing value, you’re setting up a foundation that’s capable of growth and scaling, and consistent revenue. It’s about putting the reader’s needs and at the forefront of every decision.
E-E-A-T: This isn’t just an acronym; it’s your guide to building trust with your audience through Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. This is going to be key to your marketing strategy.
Building Authority in Your Niche
Ever notice how the authority bloggers seem to get their content EVERYWHERE? There’s a reason for this and it starts with how you craft the content.
Building a real connection: It’s one thing to know your stuff, but another to communicate it in a way that connects with your audience. The more you do this the easier it is for your audience to like it, engage with it, and SHARE IT.
Crafting the right kind of content allows your audience to do the heavy lifting of promotion for you!
Show your passion and expertise: A cornerstone of E-E-A-T is Expertise. This is your blog’s best friend. This doesn’t mean you have to be an “expert” in your field to be a blogger. It just means you need to have true passion for the subject. Quality trumps quantity, and when you share your audience’s passion for the topic you also share their pain points, their problems they’re looking to solve, and can deliver on the resolutions they’re looking for.
Building a reputation: Connect with other leaders in your niche and engage in meaningful discussions. When you become an authority in your niche, promoting your blog gets easier and easier because your audience will be actively looking to find more of what you have to say.
Leveraging Social Media for Human-Centric Promotion
Promoting your blog on social media isn’t just about pushing your links out to the masses. If you want to gain a true following and connect you have to build genuine relationships with your readers. Let’s take a look at how to use these platforms effectively for promoting your blog.
Know where your audience is: First up, it’s crucial to find where your audience hangs out. That could be Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, or even niche forums. Remember, being where your readers are is half the battle won.
You can’t be everywhere all at once: Don’t feel the need to be active on every single social media platform out there either. Choose one or two and own those instead of trying to chase down your audience across all social media. When you create content that connects with them, they’ll actually come to you.
Don’t make all your shares about you: How about harnessing the power of user-generated content? I’m talking about spotlighting stories, reposts, or contributions from the community. This not only provides fresh perspectives but it also makes your readers feel valued and part of your blog’s journey.
Build on authentic interactions: When I say ‘authentic interaction,’ I mean really engaging with your community. Don’t rely on just scheduled posts; jump into the conversations, reply to comments, ask questions. Authenticity leads to a loyal following, which is priceless for your blog’s growth.
Quality over quantity: Share valuable tips and insights, not just plugs for your latest posts. And, add a personal touch – your audience wants to connect with a real person, not a faceless blog. Deliver on value instead of just spamming their feed with your links.
With a strong social media strategy in place, you’re now in a great position to make sure those new readers can find your awesome content through search engines. And this takes us to the wonderful world of SEO, search engine optimization.
Search Engine Optimization: How to Keep Your Fingers on the Pulse of Your Audience
If you want to see your blog thrive, understanding the needs and searching habits of your readers is critical. It’s not just about ranking at the top of Google, it’s about making sure that when readers find your blog they find value that speaks directly to them.
Get in their heads: What are they looking for? What questions are they trying to answer? What are their pain points? This is where user intent comes into play, and it’s a game-changer for building content that connects with them.
Doing ‘smart’ keyword research: Keyword research is your next step, but here’s a twist: you’re going to look beyond search volume numbers and target phrases that connect with the actual concerns of your audience. Again, what are their pain points? These keywords should naturally integrate into your posts, keeping your voice genuine and relatable. The People Also Ask section of Google searches is a great place to find the actual searches your audience is making.
SEO is more than just technical tweaks: You want to use on-page SEO techniques that actually improve the experience of your readers. Think bold headings, concise meta descriptions, optimizing images, short paragraphs with plenty of white space. These strategies don’t just make your content ready for the search engines, they make your content more digestible and enjoyable.
Make the technical SEO habits your routine: The more you write the easier the technical SEO becomes. Placing your focus keyword in the title, url, and first paragraph of your content, writing naturally for the rest of the post, avoiding keyword stuffing.
Your website matters: Is your website mobile responsive? How fast are your website’s loading speeds? Every step you take to pay attention to the details and make the user experience a good one is a step that allows your content to be found, absorbed, and shared with others.
Remember, the goal is a balance between search engine optimization and reader engagement. Your content should be easily found, but more importantly, it should be worth finding. That said, don’t stress over making every sentence SEO-perfect; focus on clarity and value, and SEO will often follow.
Measuring Your Success: Analytics That Matter to People
It’s important to understand how to measure your success in a way that centers on your audience. You don’t want to just focus on numbers, you want to meet goals that align with the human side of your visitors.
How is your engagement?: If you want to see what your readers are really connecting with, look beyond just page views or unique visitors, look into engagement. This means analyzing things like the average time spent on your blog, bounce rate, the comments section, and social shares. Each of these can tell you a lot about how people are interacting with your content.
Listen to user feedback: User feedback is a massive and very direct way to refine your marketing strategies. Sometimes, feedback comes in the form of direct comments or emails from your readers. Other times, it’s reflected in the analytics—where are people dropping off, and where are they engaging the most?
Refine and adapt: To succeed as a blogger, you have to be willing to adapt and adjust your approach down the road based on what the data is telling you. If certain types of posts are getting more attention, it would be smart to create more content along those lines.
Approach your analytics dynamically: In my opinion, the dynamic aspect of analytics is what makes them so valuable. They provide a living, breathing picture of your blog’s performance and your audience’s preferences. If you’re doing it right, analytics become not just a tool for measurement, but a compass for continued growth and reader satisfaction, and ultimately that’s what’s important.
Choose metrics that matter: Don’t worry too much about numbers that don’t contribute to your primary goals. Focus on metrics that prioritize your audience’s overall user experience when deciding on which analytics to build on. Sometimes, a small, deeply engaged audience can be more valuable than a large, disinterested one.

Hello Eric,
I have read a couple of your blogs now, and they are always interesting and engaging. I have noted your emphasis on people-focused content that addresses the interests, needs, and pain points of your target audience. That sounds like great advice, but I am not sure I know how to find their interests and pain points. Do I just keep trying what I feel they need until I get positive feedback that I can then build on, or are there better ways to go about this?
When you choose a niche that you’re passionate about this places you right in the middle of your own target audience. You know what they’re going through because you’re a part of it, so write content about the topics you are always looking for more answers to, write about the pain points you’ve had as a member of that target audience. Then use analytics to see what’s working and what’s not. That’s all there is to it 🙂
Fantastic! Thank you.
Eric,
As a member of Wealthy Affiliates I have access to your Premium Training Classes. Soon I will have access to the Plus training as well. The training your provide has proven invaluable for me as I move forward, and wish to thank you for the service you provide not only to the Wealthy Affiliates Community but the one you serve as an Emergency worker as well. That field is often unthanked for the service they provide up to and including putting themselves in harms way to help others in need. So Thank you for what you do!
This site and post is flawless in my opinion. The links work perfectly and the content is spot on as usual. My question is regards to your sticky widget “This is How I Make My Money Online”. I like it, and am looking for training on how to make this a reality in my blogs. Is there a link or training source you can suggest to teach people like me to employ this simple yet effective widget. It certainly works well because it maintained my attention while reading the valuable information contained in your post. I also love the popup you have. It is not typical and a true gem.
Thank you for this awesome post!
Michael
