Where To Find Cheap Flights Online Using Facebook (with video)!

how to find cheap flightsMost would agree that learning where to find cheap flights online is a MUST for anyone who loves traveling. The fact is this: cheap flights are out there for the taking. You just have to know where to look and how to find them.

It’s time to start using social media as a tool and not just a time waster.  Cat videos are fun, but you know what’s way more fun? Knowing where to find cheap flights online so you can travel the world cheap.

In this article, I’m going to show you exactly where to find cheap flights online by setting up your Facebook feed so it does all the work and you don’t have to.

Where To Find Cheap Flights Online Using Facebook

To make things easy, I’ve created this short video walkthrough on where to find cheap flights online using Facebook. I cover exactly how to set up your feed and which sites you should follow.

How To Adjust Your “Follow" Settings in Facebook to Make Sure You Don’t Miss a Travel Deal

As shown in the video above, when you find a page on Facebook you want to follow, the key to never missing their posts is in how you set the “follow" settings.

You’ll want to make sure you select “see first" so the page’s posts don’t get lost in your feed. This way new posts from the page you’re following will always be at the top, easy to spot.

Second, you’ll also want to turn notifications on for that page. Now, even if you’re not checking your feed, you’ll get a notification that you can check later. You won’t miss a thing.

Some of these deals that are posted only last one day. Because of this you want to make absolutely sure you adjust your follow settings to “show first" and turn notifications to “on". Make sure you never miss out on that crazy cheap flight deal before it comes and goes.

Now that you know how to adjust your settings so you never miss a page’s posts, let’s get you started with a list of my favorite travel deal pages  to follow on Facebook.

Where to Find Cheap Flights Online – A Great Starter List of Pages to Follow on Facebook

Depending on where you live, the pages you follow on Facebook to find cheap flights online will vary. There are some pages that cover national travel deals, and others that are specific to a region.

Scott’s Cheap Flights, Thrifty TravelerAirfareWatchdog, and The Flight Deal are great no matter what part of the US you’re in. Don’t forget that most of these pages on Facebook have their own corresponding website where you can sign up to follow by email as well.

Thrifty Traveler and AirfareWatchdog are especially good for travel deals. In addition to cheap flights, they also share posts on how to save money in other ways while you travel.

Thrifty Traveler currently has a roundtrip fight from Houston to Norway for $434 that I am this close to booking. I just don’t know if I want to endure Norway in January or not. Brrrrrr.

Because of Facebook’s recognition of user location, following these pages may pull up suggested pages to follow that are specific to your region. In my case, because I live in south Texas, I found pages like CheapDFW & EscapeATX which are great if you’re in or around the Dallas or Austin areas.

(Side note: Just before publishing this article I found and booked a January round trip flight from Dallas to Barcelona for $453 using CheapDFW. Score!)

A Couple of Bonus Pages to Follow For Great Deals Involving Travel Rewards Cards

The following two pages are favorites of mine, but not because they share flight deals. They share the best credit card rewards deals you can take advantage of to fly dirt cheap.

The Points Guy and The Frugal Travel Guy are musts if you’ve ever dreamed of flying first class or, better yet, flying free. Both will share with you the right credit cards to apply for, when to do it, and exactly how to redeem those incredible bonus miles you’ll get when you meet their spending limits.

The Points Guy has made a living piggybacking travel rewards on top of each other to fly first class all over the world free of charge.

I’m not quite at that Jedi master level yet. However, my upcoming west coast road trip from Seattle down to San Diego in August has 2 free flights and a week long car rental I was able to get free of charge. This is all because of travel rewards I earned on previous trips! It’s also because I’m Batman.

    Hey Eric
Here’s to Wanderlust indeed. Extremely informative video. In fact it helped me find a site where I can monitor Hawaii flights which is what I need for my trip in March. Never actually thought of finding deals like this at all. Thanks a million.

    • Eric Cantu says:

Awesome, Dawn! I have so many people ask me which travel agency I use and what kind of side job do I have with all these trips and I’m like Facebook! lol. Really glad it helped. I came across this it’s absolutely my go to for finding deals. The best part is we’re all naturally checking Facebook all day like everyone else so you don’t even have to go out of your way to see these deals, they just come to you. Thanks for the comment!

      Thanks again, Paul!

  • This is a really interesting post. I’ve never thought of finding cheap flights using Facebook.
This makes me curious why find on Facebook by following different pages when there are many convenient websites like Skyscanner.

What’s the difference? I really find Skyscanner useful.

    • Eric Cantu says:

What’s up, Jerry! I like your insight here. Skyscanner is a bit like Priceline right? You enter the dates you want to travel along with your destination and it searches for the cheapest flights available? With this particular method I’m sharing in this article, you’re getting notified of ultra cheap deals without having to enter any dates or destinations. I’ve had so much success with Facebook alerting me of where to find cheap flights online that I thought I’d share it, and it’s hard to get any more convenient that using a site like Facebook that most everyone checks in on all day every day, right? I’m going to take a good look at Skyscanner, though. If it’s similar to Priceline then I can use it in conjunction with the Facebook deals when I know a cheap flight is available. Thanks, Jerry!

  • Good post and very detailed information. It is good to know that you can have this kind of information at your finger tip. Your readers will love what you are aying. With information like this you can always keep up to date of what is happeing in the travel industry . Thanks again for sharing.

    • Eric Cantu says:

I appreciate the comment, Norman! I know so many people are always on the lookout for where to find cheap flights online, I knew I had to share my secrets! lol. Thanks again for chiming in!

  • Ahmad says:

Those are some really good deals, Eric! I like your website! I want to work from everywhere! I need to follow your example! This is great information for me! THANKS!

  • W Tucker says:

WoW, am I glad I found you

This is the best travel site I’ve found in a long time. I’m a traveler and haven’t done much lately, but now I’m totally inspired to get back in the saddle.

I live in Dallas so the Cheap DFW site is gold for me.

I had to stop your video every time you mentioned a travel site so I could go subscribe and look at it

Thanks so much for all the very valuable info you provided.

    • Eric Cantu says:

Really appreciate that, man. Glad to be of help 🙂 So many people are looking for where to find cheap flights online and very few know they can setup their social media to do all the work. Take care!

  • JR Andrade says:

Hi Eric, this is fantastic! =) I am always on the lookout for the best travel deals both for personal and business aspects. Personally, my wife and I wife are travel enthusiasts and knowing the best deals are a big must for us. In the business aspect, as a blogger and a web developer, it also helps me share with my audience the best travel deals so they can be inspired to travel the world to explore new cultures and languages. I guess we share the same passion and that’s amazing. Hey man, that training platform you mentioned, is it only for newbies or could someone like myself get started with it to boost traffic for my blog? Let me know! Thanks for this brother.

  • It just goes to show that if you want something bad enough you can find it, or someone who can point you in the right direction. The FB tips are also useful for following other pages . As someone who’s recently retired and looking for extra income, I’m looking into that training program you mentioned too! Thanks.

    • Eric Cantu says:

There’s a reason I recommend it over all other training platforms :). I think you’ll enjoy it. It shows everyday people how, with the right training, you can go from knowing nothing about online business, to having a real website, real traffic, and real revenue by just connecting people online with what they’re looking for. Bigtime eye opener for me. Thanks for the comment, Judith! Good luck!

  • Dustin says:

I just started up my own blog with similar content The Points Guy, so for the whole first half of the article I was thinking, “I’ve gotta tell them about credit card points.”

I’ve been doing the credit card game for a few years and it has completely changed my life. I’m just hoping I can create something on my blog to carve my own niche separate from the Points Guy and other similarr sites.

I love your ideas about keeping updated on Facebook, since there are some times when award travel isn’t the best option. I’ll have to give it a try.

    Happy travels.

    • Eric Cantu says:

Yeah man the credit card points game is awesome. You gotta stay on top of it, but it’s legit. Thanks for stopping in and leaving the comment. Glad you enjoyed the post! Take care, Dustin!

  • Mallory says:

Phenomenal!!! I am going to look into every single one of these because I am horrible when it comes to finding good deals on flights and that is a huge reason why I don’t travel as much as I would like to. Thank you for these helpful tips, they are great!!

    • Eric Cantu says:

I think everyone in the world wants to know where to find cheap flights online but doesn’t realize Facebook can be a great tool for doing it. Glad this helped you! Take care, Mallory!

  • Irma says:

Hello and thank you for this very informative post!
I had to leave your video part way through to go to facebook and look for travel deal sites! I did come back and finish it 😉
So far, I have been using co-workers who are “in the know” about travel deals, but after my job disappears next month, I will be glad that I saw your post and have travel deals coming to my FB page!
And I agree; having a job you take on vacation is the way to go, and where I want to be!

    • Eric Cantu says:

Thank you, Irma! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and I’m glad it helped. We all want to know where to find cheap flights online and that’s exactly why I put together this article. If you’re job is ending soon, and online business is something that interests you, you might wanna take a look at that training I mentioned. As you start your new job, why not get some training on how to be your own boss right? Thanks again!

  • Phil says:

This information is super helpful! I’m planning a trip to Canada for July 1st and these tips will really come in handy for finding a great deal on a flight. I’m going to check out Thrifty Traveler right now! I’ve also book marked this page so I can try other methods for cheap flights in the future. Great information!

    • Eric Cantu says:

Awesome, Phil! I appreciate that. Knowing where to find cheap flights online is half the battle. Letting Facebook do it for you is the other half, right? And well the third half is having time off to go, lol. But that’s exactly why there’s Wealthy Affiliate 🙂

  • Deep says:

I love traveling, but sadly like most people have been too busy to travel lately. Also, whenever I do travel I end up waiting until the last moment to buy super expensive tickets. I will definitely use these strategies to ensure I plan ahead of time and get the best price for my ticket. I don’t really use facebook but will have to start to optimize the social media network, thank you for sharing I found the post to be very helpful.

    • Eric Cantu says:

When you make Facebook work for you, it becomes way easier to be a part of it, believe me. The second I found the training at Wealthy Affiliate I finally starting seeing the internet as the resource it is. It started with knowing where to find cheap flights online, and it’s continued into getting an understanding of real internet business 🙂 Thanks for the comment!

  • teachexplorerun says:

As an active traveler myself, I never knew that way to find cheap deals. I need to cheap this in mind for my next year. My only concern is are the deals pre-set with dates because I only have certain weeks off during the school year. I am assuming the weeks I have off are high traveling times. I do still manage to find international deals quite cheap.

    Thanks for the informational video!

    • Eric Cantu says:

You had a Freudian slip there lol. “I need to cheap this in mind”, lol, I like that!

What I’ve found is that most of these deals have LOTS of dates where the deal applies. Like “here’s this deal that’s good from September this year until February next year with no black out dates”. No joke. The whole trick though is spotting them early and taking advantage of them cuz a day later they could be gone.

Thanks for the comment, brother! I appreciate it.

  • stephanie says:

This is super informative! I am a travel blogger as well and am always on the hunt for good deals. This is one way I’ve never thought of finding deals. Very cool. I’m definitely going to subscribe to these pages. Do you have a favorite airline or travel points program? I’m a Southwest diehard lol.

    • Eric Cantu says:

I don’t know if I have a favorite just yet. I do love Southwest for their roominess, but I’m always flying out of the country. Turkish Airlines had great food and service and Qatar Airways was pretty roomy as well. I can’t remember which airline I had when I flew to Tokyo but I LOVED it. I’m gonna have to go back and find it. It was super comfy,,, It may have been because I had a whole row to myself though lol.

      Glad this article helped!
