About Me

Eric Cantu repelling Costa RicaWhile I’m not big on these “About Me” pages, every site has one, so here are my stats:

  • Born and raised in south Texas.
  • Firefighter and paramedic since 2002.
  • Currently ranked as Ambassador at Wealthy Affiliate and member since January 2017.
  • Travel addict.
  • Photography addict.
  • Obsessed with learning all things about SEO and affiliate marketing.

I’m one of 4 brothers. I’m the baby by 15 years. I have two unbelievable dogs, Guinness and Shiner. And traveling and photography are my absolute passions.

In September 2016, it’s like I just realized how much beauty there is in this world and how much is out there to explore. Since then I’ve been on a real travel kick.

I went to Tokyo in September, Greece in December, Australia in March, & Thailand in May. I’m doing a west coast road trip from Seattle to California in August, Rome in September, and London in November… and lots more to come!

I really do have wanderlust. If you enjoy travel vlogs you can check mine out on YouTube at my Batman Travels channel. Subscribe and come with me on my adventures!

I want to keep this pace up for 20 years and look back when I’m old and grey and say that I lived.
You can follow me there and on Instagram @batmantravels if you like travel photography.

Thanks again for taking the time to browse through this site. I truly hope the information I’m passing on through this site can help you reach your goals of a successful online business. Hi there Eric,

What a great introduction! I too have wanderlust! I find a place I like and stay for a year and move on..places I really like I stay longer! And Thailand was one of them… 5 years! I really liked it there! and I know you will too! Don’t forget the north when you go – Thailand is a lot more than Bangkok and amazing beaches and island hopping! Having income that comes with you is the key. Safe travels

    • Eric Cantu says:

I’m really looking forward to Thailand. I’m going to try to see if I can do some island hopping like you mentioned when I’m there. More than one person has told me to do just that. I’ve got to finish planning Australia first before I get into the itinerary for Thailand. I’m really looking forward to these trips. Thanks for the tips, Dere! Here’s to wanderlust!

Hi Derek, “wanderlust” is my middle name too and I’m glad to connect with like-minded people!
I do exactly what you say, I’m a serial expat who relocates every 1-2 years and move on… So far, I haven’t found a place that feels like “home”, or that I can see myself living there forever! Maybe, one day… It will be good to have a base and decorate my place with all my travel memoirs and books etc 🙂 I’m currently finishing a 2-year teaching gig in Thailand actually, and yes I love the country (living in Bangkok? not so much!) and I totally agree with you that northern Thailand has so much to offer! It’s a shame when people skip places like Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pai… Anyways, that’s exactly the reason I’m building a location-independent lifestyle – being able to make money from wherever I want and staying in a place for some time and getting to know the country and culture, without rushing to see everything in 2-week vacations.

      Eric,
what can I say – congratulations on embarking on the journey of feeding that wanderlust! Happy to connect with you in Wealthy Affiliate and I absolutely agree that it’s the most legit platform out there with so much training, valuable hosting and the warm, helpful community itself!

      Happy wanders 🙂

Thanks for the comment, Nicky! WA is definitely the place to be. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it. Thanks for chiming in. And if you’re all about wanderlust you should follow my YouTube channel “Batman Travels”. I just created it while in Thailand and I think you’ll like the 5 short videos I have up so far documenting my 5 days in Bangkok and Phuket 🙂 Take care and thanks again!

Hi Eric, Mr. Wanderlust! you’ve just given me an addition to my vocabulary.

I envy you for doing all the trips you had. I have same situation as you dreaming of all the places in the world I want to go. Is this opportunity truly free?.

What basically Wealthy Affiliate requires me to do? Is it difficult to learn?

    • Eric Cantu says:

Wealthy Affiliate has two membership options: free and premium. There are no catches to the free membership. You don’t enter a credit card and then get suckered into a monthly payment or anything like that. It’s not a free “trial” either. You can stay with the free membership for as long as you like, however if you choose to go premium within 7 days you get a big discount in your first month ($19 instead of $49). Once I saw what was available I decided it was definitely worth $19 and I would reassess after the month ended. I never looked back.

If you decide it’s something you’d like to try, take full advantage of the free option. Get your hands dirty and watch the video tutorial that shows exactly what premium would unlock if u chose to upgrade. See which fit is best for you and prepare to go to school! It’s like enrolling into a college course where all the research has been done for you and you are guided step by step throughout every aspect of building your business. Good luck with everything! I know you’ll enjoy it!Look me up and I’ll follow you!
